Oregon M&A Overview — Business Sale Activity for M&A Targets
In Q3 2026, Oregon-based target companies recorded 30 M&A transactions representing approximately $276.1 million of aggregate disclosed transaction value across two transactions with reported values. PBCO Financial Corporation’s approximately $167.3 million transaction accounted for roughly 61% of the quarter’s disclosed value; excluding that deal, disclosed transaction value totaled approximately $108.8 million. Buyer activity was predominantly driven by out-of-state strategic acquirers and consolidating platforms, supplemented by Oregon-based buyers and private equity or other institutional investors. Financial services and wealth management, software and technology, and industrial and business services were recurring themes, alongside activity in consumer products, agriculture and real assets. The diversity of buyers and industries continued to demonstrate Oregon’s relevance as a durable middle-market seller and exit market.
Banking represented all of the quarter’s reported transaction value. Northrim BanCorp agreed to acquire Medford-based PBCO Financial Corporation for approximately $167.3 million, establishing an Oregon presence through 11 branches across Southern Oregon and the Willamette Valley. Gesa Credit Union separately agreed to acquire substantially all assets and liabilities of Salem-based Willamette Valley Bank for approximately $108.8 million, providing Gesa entry into Marion and Linn counties through four branches. Beyond disclosed-value transactions, the quarter featured meaningful strategic activity across several sectors, including Cerity Partners’ acquisition of Portland-based Cordant Wealth Partners, CliftonLarsonAllen’s acquisition of Portland-based Perkins & Co., Flipboard’s acquisition of Portland-based Graze Social, and Midwest Growth Partners’ acquisition of Portland-based Brazi Bites.
The quarter reinforced the breadth of Oregon’s transaction environment even in the absence of widespread disclosed pricing. Strategic buyers pursued Oregon companies for regional expansion, specialized capabilities, technology, established brands, and experienced teams, while financial sponsors continued to invest in scalable middle-market platforms. For founder-owners and sponsors considering an exit, the activity indicates buyer interest remains distributed across a broad range of Oregon industries rather than concentrated in a single sector.
