Texas — Business Sale Overview

In Q3 2026, Texas-based target companies recorded 182 M&A transactions, with aggregate disclosed value of approximately $37.96 billion across 32 transactions reporting values. The buyer pool included 58 transactions identified as private equity-backed in the source data and 33 transactions involving Texas-headquartered acquirers, alongside substantial participation from strategic buyers, out-of-state investors, and international acquirers. Industrials led transaction volume with 61 deals, followed by Technology, Media & Telecommunications with 34 and Financials with 26, while Energy & Utilities contributed another 20 transactions. The breadth of sectors and capital sources continued to position Texas as a durable seller and exit market across both middle-market and large-cap transactions.

The largest disclosed transaction was KKR’s approximately $5.89 billion acquisition of Plano-based Integer Holdings, followed by The Williams Companies’ $5.50 billion acquisition of Houston-based Momentum Midstream and ONEOK Rockies Midstream’s approximately $4.43 billion acquisition of Permian Midland Basin assets. Other significant transactions included Magnolia Oil & Gas’ approximately $4.14 billion acquisition of Houston-based Wildfire Intermediate Holdings, nVent Electric’s $2.30 billion acquisition of McKinney-based Maverick Power, argenx’s approximately $1.92 billion acquisition of Dallas-based Forte Biosciences, and Ferguson Enterprises’ $1.60 billion acquisition of Pasadena-based FloWorks International. Technology and business-services activity also included Softcat’s approximately $1.05 billion acquisition of Dallas-based General Datatech. The three largest disclosed transactions represented approximately 41.7% of total disclosed value, with no single transaction accounting for more than half of the quarter’s total.

The quarter reinforced the depth of Texas’ M&A market beyond its largest transactions. Strategic consolidation remained active across industrial services, energy infrastructure, software, insurance, healthcare, and specialty distribution, while sponsor-backed acquisitions continued across environmental services, engineering, aviation, wealth management, and other business-services verticals.
